Memorial Day
We had a pretty laid back Memorial Day weekend. Here are a few highlights.
On Sunday we loaded Jonie into the backpack and took a walk to a nearby neighborhood for coffee and lunch. She was fast asleep by the time we made it home.
Here's Jonie posing Sears-portrait-studio-style in her newly reorganized/redecorated room.

Late May
Haven't posted in a while. Too tired to write much now. A few photos for your viewing pleasure.
Maple teething biscuits are delicious.
Our girl standing tall in her monkey pjs. Grandma Carrie and Grandpa Doug gave these to Jonie for Christmas. They seemed so big at the time I just couldn't imagine when she'd wear them. She loves playing with the monkeys on her feet.
Kitchen items have become Jonie's favorite new toys. Top among them: basting brush. We think her cooking future looks strong. She's also sporting the punk baby look, courtesy of Auntie Jenn. Love it.

Mom, You're the Best
I had big plans for this, Anne's first Mother's Day. About a week ago I had devised a breakfast picnic and a hike for the three of us. But then Anne planned a breakfast picnic for Jonie's half birthday party yesterday, and it rained this morning. So we had a little picnic on the living room floor and Anne opened her presents.
Jonie helped. She had a lot of fun trying to eat that ribbon afterward.
I love, love, love this picture of my two best ladies. Happy Mother's Day, Anne. It has been a pleasure to learn to become parents with you. Not a human on this earth I would rather do this with (this, and so much more).
xoxo

Six Months Old!
Yesterday marked Jonie's six month birthday. My, how time flies. We celebrated the occasion with a few friends. Anne made some delicious food and we had a brunch picnic at the park near our house. Jonie also got to ride in the swings for the first time. The picture doesn't show it, but she was actually really enjoying herself.
Happy Half Birthday, Jonah (aka Jonie, aka Jonie-Tunes, aka Tunsey, aka Junior Tooter, aka Toots, aka Tooterstein, aka Jonsie). You're the number one best.

A lovely story
I can't wait to share this story with Jonie, because it is such a necessary story. Thanks B&L&L&E, we love you!

Movin' On Up!
Although a passionate reach can induce a tipping from which she just can't recover (much the way Maverick just couldn't recover from that jet wash), our Jonie is sitting up pretty well these days. Mostly the tipping happens when she wants a toy in her mouth so badly that she lunges for it with her face, rather than waiting for her hand to bring it to her mouth. But she's getting the hang of it.
I love the photo below. You can see those (very sharp) bottom teeth, and just how strawberry blond her hair is getting in all this Oakland sunshine.

Waking Up
So I finally figured out how to post a video to the blog. (It is unbelievably simple. I just never took the time to look at the buttons--you know the ones that look exactly like the function you want to perform: mail for mail, photos for photos, film for movies.)
Morning is one of our favorite times of day. Jonie generally wakes up by spending some time talking to herself in her crib (she has recently been really into making S sounds, so she sounds like a little snake laying there--or a tire with a leak...sssssssssss). When we go in her room to get her, she has some big smiles for us.
